Romantic Outdoor Tent Wedding near Madison, WI

As Wisconsin wedding planners, we love helping couples celebrate their big day in a way that feels personal and full of heart. We work with couples across Wisconsin and the Midwest, getting to know their stories, families, and traditions to make each wedding feel special. Marc and Kalyna’s wedding was no exception. Their day was all about honoring their Ukrainian heritage, filled with meaningful moments and a party that didn’t stop—even with a little rain.

We had the honor of coordinating Marc and Kalyna’s outdoor tented wedding in Baraboo. The groom’s parents’ beautiful backyard was the perfect spot for their reception, and the nearby American Ukrainian Youth Association campgrounds, a place close to their hearts, set the stage for the ceremony and cocktail hour. Every choice they made for their locations tied back to their story, making their wedding feel so personal.

When guests arrived, the weather had other plans—a little rain delayed the outdoor ceremony. But that’s the beauty of having a wedding coordinator. We quickly shifted gears, turning the waiting time into an impromptu cocktail hour. Wendigo Catering kept everyone happy with appetizers and drinks, while Hrim Band played acoustic tunes with a guitar and accordion, creating a relaxed and fun vibe. Rain or not, the day kept rolling, and guests were able to enjoy every moment.

Once the skies cleared, the ceremony took place in front of an outdoor chapel setting surrounded by the natural landscape. White chairs from Event Essentials added a nice contrast, and Wild Apples Floral decorated the chapel with a delicate garland. Hrim Band continued playing as guests found their seats. With a break in the rain, Marc and Kalyna exchanged their vows surrounded by their loved ones.

Following the ceremony, guests transitioned to a reception beneath a sailcloth tent provided by Event Essentials. The tent’s open design created an airy, inviting atmosphere while seamlessly incorporating the natural beauty of the surrounding landscape.

The reception kicked off with a traditional Ukrainian ceremony to welcome the newlyweds. Marc and Kalyna’s parents, along with ceremonial witnesses, greeted them with gifts of korovai (a traditional wedding bread), wine, and salt. Each of these holds a special meaning: the bread symbolizes a full and happy life, the wine prosperity, and the salt health and stability. The korovai was beautifully decorated with baked ornaments, including birds for the couple and other designs representing family and friends. The moment felt both touching and joyful as everyone joined in a toast to celebrate the start of their life together.

Dinner, catered by Wendigo, featured rosemary braised beef short ribs, rainbow trout, and wild mushroom lasagna—something for everyone to enjoy. Hrim Band kept the energy up during dinner, and it didn’t take long for guests to hit the dance floor. The night was just getting started.

One of the highlights of the evening was the kolomeyka, a Ukrainian folk dance that got everyone involved. Guests formed a big circle, clapping and cheering as people stepped into the middle to show off their moves. It’s one of those moments where you can’t help but smile, watching friends and family connect through music and dance.

As the reception wound down, the party didn’t stop. Guests moved to the American Ukrainian Youth Association campgrounds for an after-party that lasted well into the night. Meanwhile, our team stayed behind to handle cleanup and vendor load-out, so Marc and Kalyna could focus on enjoying their celebration.
