For this Milwaukee Art Museum wedding design, the goal was to create something that felt organic yet elevated—an aesthetic that honored the museum’s architectural grandeur while introducing natural, textural elements. The museum’s clean lines and expansive, light-filled spaces inspired a design that played with contrast: organic details set against the bold geometry of Santiago Calatrava’s masterpiece.
The Space Sets The Scene
Perched along the shores of Lake Michigan, the Milwaukee Art Museum stands as one of the most breathtaking and architecturally significant wedding venues in the Midwest. Its striking design, panoramic lake views, and luminous interiors make it a destination for couples who want a wedding that feels both modern and timeless.
Windhover Hall
The museum’s Windhover Hall served as the backdrop for bridal portraits, where a sculptural arch of layered grasses framed the lakefront. The interplay of white marble architecture, natural light, and lush greenery echoed the museum’s connection to its surroundings.
Schroeder Galleria
In the Schroeder Galleria, we styled a foodscape that doubled as a work of art. A series of round tables featuring textural linens and an assortment of hors d’oeuvres created a stunning vignette designed to invite conversation and connection. Wasabi caviar, crab salad topped cornbread, grape mounds, and champagne towers provided an enticing cocktail hour experience.
Baumgartner Galleria
For the reception, the Baumgartner Galleria was transformed into an intimate dinner space. Tables dressed in luxe geometric linens and paired with King Louis chairs brought depth and comfort. Sculptural grass arrangements introduced a natural rhythm to the room’s architecture, while rich ceramic plates, alabaster flatware, and hand-cut crystal glassware elevated the organic florals.
Every detail worked in harmony with the museum’s architecture—structured yet natural, refined yet inviting. The design felt deeply connected to its surroundings, a reflection of both the Milwaukee Art Museum’s artistry and modern sensibility.
Milwaukee offers no shortage of unforgettable venues, but the Milwaukee Art Museum might be our favorite.
